The Impact of Heavy Metals in Impairment of Spermatogenesis and Sperm Density in the Human
Written by S. A. Habib   Published On Issue 4 Vol 9, 2018
Spermatogenesis is the most important stage in male fertility. In the present study, many factors affecting spermatogenesis were evaluated in seminal plasma and homogenates of sperms from fertile and infertile males. The levels of some heavy metals, malondialdehyde (MDA) and reduced glutathione (GSH) as well as superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity were measured in both seminal plasma and homogenate supernatant of sperm from fertile and infertile males. Two hundred and sixteen human semen samples

An Effect of Calcination Temperatures on the Characteristics of the Mgfe₂o₄ Nano Ferrite Prepared Using Auto Combustion Method
Written by Ahmed Yaseen   Published On Issue 4 Vol 9, 2018
Nanosized magnesium ferrite MgFe2O4 was synthesized using sol-gel auto combustion method as a burnt powder calcined at different temperatures (350, 500, 650, 800 and 950 C˚). These powders were pressed into a disk shape compact, and sintered at 1100 C˚ for 3 hours. The X-ray diffraction patterns of the ferrite powders showed the formation of spinal cubic structure, whereas the crystallite size increased with increasing calcined temperatures from 29 to 42 nm. The absorption bands of the FTIR spec

Simultaneous Decolorization of Dye Contaminated Wastewater and Energy Production Using Algae
Written by F.A. Alseroury   Published On Issue 4 Vol 9, 2018
Use of dyes is increasing day by day due to its multiple applications in different industries. The result is dye contaminated rich colored water, which not only produces aesthetically unpleasing effect but also creates serious environmental concerns. In present study, competent algae were isolated from wastewater streams and were tested for their efficiency to remove color from the dye contaminated wastewater. It was observed that three strains were capable of removing color from the wastewater.

Preparation of Molecularly Imprinted Polymers Coupled with Magnetic Nanoparticles for the Selective Extraction of Propranolol from Aqueous Solution of Propranolol, Atenolol and Metoprolol
Written by Mehdi Samizadeh   Published On Issue 4 Vol 9, 2018
In this work, highly selective molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) of propranolol on the internal surface of hollow fiber were prepared. The resulting MIP coated MNP were used as dispersive solid phase micro extraction (SPME) fiber coupled with HPLC-UV for the selective extraction and detection of propranolol. Encouraging result was obtained. Method was evaluated and enrichment factors, relative standard deviations and linearity ranged for propranolol 918.8, 2.9% and 25-3000 ng.ml-1 were obtai

Studying the Bioelementary Status in Preschool Children with Neurotic Disorders
Written by Olexyuk Z   Published On Issue 4 Vol 9, 2018
One of the main indicators determining the potential of a nation is the health of its younger generation. The present study was conducted in a kindergarten in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. 139 children (their age ranged from 4 years to 5 years and 5 months) were the participants of this study who were divided into two groups of children with neurosis and a group of healthy children. The results indicated that the lack of essential metals in children with neuroses explained one of the mechanisms of the

Synthesis and Characterization of Some Azo Dyes Derived from 4-Aminoacetophenone, 1, 4 Phenylene Diamine and Studying its Dyeing Performance and Antibacterial Activity
Written by Noor Sabah Al-Obaidi   Published On Issue 4 Vol 9, 2018
New azo and diazo dye was synthesized by coupling reaction of dizonium salt of P-amino acetophenone, P-phenylene diamine with phenolic derived. The products were characterized by FTIR and 1H NMR; they were identical to literature. A1, A2, A4, A5, B2 and B3 were used dyes in dying process which were applied on wool, cotton and sawdust. We note that there are variations in the hues of the dyed fabrics which is resulted from the modifications in the coupling components. All the dyes gave color chan

Photocatalytic Effect of TiO₂ Nanoparticles on Essential Oil of Rosmarinus Officinalis
Written by Atena Golami   Published On Issue 4 Vol 9, 2018
In this study, the effect of TiO2 nanoparticles (NP) was evaluated on the essential oil of rosemary plant (Rosmarinus officinalis). The experimental treatment included spraying seven doses of TiO2 NPs (0 (control), 20, 40, 60, 100, 200, and 400 ppm) on the rosemary leaf. The results indicated that the use of TiO2 NPs significantly affected the quantity of rosemary essential oil. The peak area for most of the compounds increased with the application of TiO2 NPs. However, at high concentrations of
