Isolation and characterization of yellow pigment producing Exiguobacterium sps.
Written by   Published On Issue 4 Vol 4, 2013
Thirteen yellow pigment producing bacterial strains were isolated by air and soil sampling method and screened for carotenoid production, as many of them exhibited a deep orange pigmentation when cultured on NA-plates. We found that most of them produced trace amount of carotenoids. The isolates RS7, RSS3, RS13 and RS14 had significant amounts of the yellow pigment producing ability (Degree of pigmentation 8.31, 2.72, 6.66 and 5.5). Free Radical Scavenging Activity of the extracts from the isola

Cold-active detergent-stable extracellular α-amylase from Bacillus cereus GA6: Biochemical characteristics and its perspectives in laundry detergent formulation
Written by   Published On Issue 4 Vol 4, 2013
A psychro-halo-tolerant Bacillus cereus GA6 was isolated from soil of Gangotri glacier, Western Himalaya that produced maximum cold-active α-amylase at 20±1 °C after 96 h of incubation in alkaline medium by using glycerol and ammonium acetate as a substrate. The enzyme was purified to homogeneity (55 kDa) with 53.33% yield and 175.92 U/mg specific activity; and was stable at low temperature (4-37 °C) and in alkaline medium (pH 7-11). The purified enzyme showed maximum a

WIF-1 might play additional role in carcinogenesis and cancer growth via EGFR signaling pathway
Written by   Published On Issue 4 Vol 4, 2013
All Protein-protein interaction is a well-known phenomenon in cancer cell signaling pathway. To study the potential docking between WIF-1 and EGFR molecules, initial protein-protein docking was performed using CAPRI-listed online servers, namely ZDOCK, GRAMM-X, HEX and PatchDock. The predicted docking conformation issued from various servers suggested the similar potential protein-protein conformational interaction. The lowest docking energy of WIF-1/EGFR binding calculated using HEX server was
