Tabriz, as the city of the firsts and the most developed city in Iran, has not been able to reserve itself a favorable stance in health tourism even with its optimal potentials, including infrastructures and specialized hospitals and versatile physicians, medical sciences university and a distinguished geopolitical situation. The current research tries to assess the role of health tourism in sustainable development and in line with overcoming the problems of single-product economy, diversification of economic products and resolving unemployment issues, eventually make the sustainable development happen. Delphi method and Likert’s five-point scale with experts’ choices are utilized in four rounds in the current research paper in Excel environment. Delphi is the method for performing prospective research and helps the planners to achieve the sustainable development objectives. The study findings are reflective of the followings: 1) employment; 2) foreign currency intake and 3) security and sustainable development.
