Abstract

Deconvolution is a powerful identification well test technique that is useful in short and long tests by increasing the amount of data that can be analyzed. By use of deconvolution a better understanding of the reservoir behavior more than conventional methods can be acquired. This work presents deconvolution as a suitable tool for well test and real production data analysis. A series of well test models from an Iranian southwest oil field are analyzed by both conventional and deconvolution approaches. Clear advantages of deconvolution method are shown and discussed in light of increased radius of investigation of the method. By this, we could detect some geological events and boundaries which were not possible to capture from diagnostic pressure derivative cures in conventional methods.
