Inflammatory phase of wound healing is when conventional topical agents employed in wound management may not be entirely effective to achieve adequate antimicrobial effect, and are lacking in adequate analgesic effect. Combined water-soluble ointment ofloxacin, methyluracil, and lidocaine (Oflomelid) can help to promote local wound management and minimize postoperative complications. This study included patients suffering from destructive appendicitis, and the authors wanted to compare the effectiveness of treating them with Oflomelid rather than the standard therapy with local antibiotics in preventing any complications after surgery and in promoting wound healing. A total of 142 patients who were diagnosed with destructive appendicitis were included in a comparative clinical study. Group 1 (n=68) was treated with intravenous antibiotic therapy and topical Oflomelid therapy, while Group 2 (n=74) was treated with standard local therapy. Clinical outcomes were assessed using the leukocyte intoxication index, bacteriological findings, wound healing progression, and postoperative complications. Following treatment with Oflomelid, patients showed quicker cleansing of the wound, reduction of bacterial contamination earlier than the control group, and granulation formation earlier than the control group.
